We at SHED studios were very happy to welcome designer Wan Hung Cheung to our East London studios at the beginning of this year! Wan founded his contemporary menswear label, WAN HUNG in 2014 after graduating from Central St Martins with a BA in Fashion Print. The brand offers a mix of creative textile narration and ornate embroidery applied to clean cut tailoring, inspired by the designer's understanding of conflict versus the Zen school of thought.
Originally from Hainan Island in China, Wan moved to the UK in 2009 to study and pursue his career in the fashion industry. Before launching his own label, the designer worked for a number of prolific designers including Tom Ford, John Rocha, Simone Rocha and Bernhard Willhelm. WAN HUNG explores the juxtaposition of modernity, innovation and traditional artisanal craft the collections often include crystal elements as a signature and provide wearers with a delicate and refined armour. We loved the editorial project they did in our larger studio, (see above) and were particularly taken with the interesting way the more colourful set was used to highlight sections of the clothing and altogether make a more experimental image. See the rest of their fantastic shoot here.
