Over in East London we at SHED had a little browse over Brianna Capozzi’s tumblr today after coming across one of her features in Dazed magazine. Capozzi is a New York based photographer who’s underlying theme in her work is reality. Her images are provocatively charged and she doesn’t really ‘do’ glamour, stating the her aim is to “make incredible images that are striking but don’t look overdone.” Capozzi is one of those magical photographers who’s images look so unscripted they appear almost as moments of madness, as if the situations are less staged and just happened to come about. Capozzi phrases it that her photographs are “images that ride the line between theatrics and banality” and we can certainly see what she means. To say the least her photos are exciting, while aesthetically pleasing woman are commonly her main subject, Capozzi uses the female form to build engaging compositions and scenarios with an original take on the contemporary return to lo-fi and analogue photography. At SHED we love her work and Capozzi is definitely on to look out for in the future, get a little taste of her images here.
